Unlike most long-range variables that offer only a 4x magnification multiple, the 5-25 x 56 provides a full 5x and a wider field of view. The first focal plane reticle does not move point of aim and the Milradian Dots stay true to measurement the whole way through the power range of the riflescope. For the extra money I don't think the PMII is that much, if any better. The whole end of the Nightforce eyepiece spins when the magnification is adjusted which I don't like much- it also spins the lens cover- it can be adjusted so it doesn't hit the upper when it's spinning but it's a bit weird. The diopter adjustment isn't as easy to set on the Nightforce- this probably doesn't matter much as you set it once and you're done. I do like the fact that the PMII has a small cylinder that pops up out of the top of the turret when you get to the second turn- the Nightforce has a small line that is easy to see but it's not as fast as the PMII. The PMII turrets are much more difficult to adjust- it's easy to go past where you are trying to stop. I think the glass is very similar in both.
I have a 5-25 PMII and the 4-16 ATACR so not exactly the same scope (Both have the H59).
